About the Photographer
Janet Gray, jjgray, is a native Californian who has been carrying a camera with her since she was 16 years old. Her emphasis has been on shooting “anything that moves,” such as animals-both domesticated and wildlife, musicians and athletes. Human subjects are generally photographed in unrehearsed, candid moments. She shoots in both film and digital mediums. Janet is also a long-distance ocean swimmer, and has taken some of her photos with a water camera while swimming in Monterey or San Francisco Bays.
Gray also composes digital slideshow productions, combining images from an event with music to tell a photographic story of the event. She has created these for musicians, including blues player Brad Wilson, as well as open water swim events. Many of these short productions can be seen on her youtube page,

Gray is inspired by the small moments that occur during a life time that sometimes go unnoticed, working to capture those experiences in still shots. Her work displays a sensitivity to light, color and mood, and expression of events as they evolve.
Her work has been shown in juried exhibits in Los Angeles, and has been published in local newspapers. Upcoming events include a solo exhibit in San Francisco, California.
